Did you know, that in 2013 around 42 million people were freelancing? Like super heroes of the work force, hiding in plain sight.

Many moons ago, I took the plunge into full time freelancing. It’s a choice I stand by, and have highly recommend to others.

Freelancing is to me, what chips and dew are to Xbox’s resident spiritual leader. As someone who’s been making magic internet money for a number of years now, I feel justified when I say “the way most of us work is fundamentally changing”.

Stop lying to yourself. You honestly think your Boss has the IQ of a Neanderthal. You’ve never had the chance to pitch that big idea you’ve been sitting on for months.

As far as sales copy goes “Freed of the city, you are infinite” is actually a little bit on the bad side. It tells you nothing of, or about, the product in question.

As a freelancer (a freelance writer more so) people will tell you “you gotta be blogging sonny!” or “back in the 20’s we blogged on cave walls, on account of the depression” factuality of that last one aside, general consensus holds that a blog is a positive thing.

Now you’ve turned your back on regular employment: keeping your books in (some kind) of order. Not unlike joining a cult, the act of becoming a freelancer can be pretty final.

You could say, I have opinions about freelancing.

Did you know that a lot of freelancers, even “successful” freelancers either have – or have had jobs?  It seems counter intuitive I know, however when you consider that more often than not “freelancing” equates to “unstable income” it’s not hard to see why many opt to have some kind of safety net
